A deep-fried ball (jamun) made with milk powder or khoya immersed in saffron and cardamom flavored sugar syrup that tastes delicious.
Directions: Add in parts 50-60 ml (1.75 - 2 fl. oz) water to the entire contents of the "Gits" Gulab Jamun Mix and knead into a soft smooth dough. For richer Jamuns, use fresh milk instead of water. Apply unsalted butter/oil on both palms and then shape about 15 round and smooth jamuns without cracks from the dough. FRY JAMUNS -Deep fry the Jamuns in oil on medium to low heat in a non-stick pan or steel utensil until they are golden brown. Drain the excess oil. PREPARING SUGAR SYRUP - Prepare sugar syrup by dissolving about 300g sugar in 320 ml (1.25 fl. oz) water. Add Saffron instead of rosewater if you prefer. Boil and simmer for 5 minutes till it is a little viscous. Soak the jamuns in hot sugar syrup for 30 minutes. Usually, Gulab Jamuns are served during dinner as a sweet side dish during lunch or dinner. However, it can even be served as a dessert in a dessert bowl and garnished with sliced almonds.
